Passenger traffic at Morocco’s airports reached nearly 22.3 million travelers in the first seven months of 2026, representing an 8.8% increase after growth of 12.8% a year earlier, according to the Directorate of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF).
The increase was driven by stronger international passenger traffic, which rose 8.8%, as well as domestic passenger traffic, which grew 8.4%, the DEPF said in its latest economic outlook note.
Air passenger traffic increased by 9.3% with Europe, 13.7% with Africa, 16.2% with North and South America combined and 10.1% with the Maghreb countries through the end of July 2026. Air freight traffic also strengthened by 12.6% over the same period.
In maritime transport, commercial traffic handled at Morocco’s ports increased by 3.8% during the first half of 2026, following an 11.6% rise a year earlier, reaching 134.9 million tons.
The increase was mainly driven by a 7.7% rise in transshipment traffic and a 2.7% increase in imports, while exports edged down 1.4% and coastal shipping traffic fell 14.6%.
Passenger traffic through Moroccan ports exceeded 1.6 million travelers by the end of June 2026, broadly in line with the level recorded a year earlier, with a slight decline of 0.3%.
Cruise passenger traffic also increased by 2.4%, reaching 174,366 cruise passengers.
