Younes Taha, the FC Twente winger, has reportedly been shortlisted by Mohamed Ouahbi for Morocco’s upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Gabon on September 25 and Lesotho on September 29, according to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf. It would be a first selection for the 23-year-old with the senior national team.
The winger, who was trained in the Netherlands, played for PEC Zwolle in 2022 before joining FC Twente in 2023. He would therefore feature in the expanded squad for the senior national team for the first time.
Taha has scored two goals and provided two assists for the Dutch club this season. He has also represented Morocco at U23 level, receiving his first call-up in 2023 under coach Issame Charai.

That same year, he took part in the U23 Africa Cup of Nations and scored his first goal in the competition against Congo, helping the Young Lions secure a win as Morocco went on to win the title.
There is no indication yet that Taha will make the final squad for the 2027 AFCON qualifiers. However, his inclusion in the preliminary senior squad shows that Ouahbi is considering the 23-year-old for the national team.
Morocco will face Gabon in Rabat on September 25 before taking on Lesotho in Bloemfontein, South Africa, four days later. Ouahbi is due to announce his final squad on Thursday, September 17.
