Dirham gains 0.2% against dollar as reserves near MAD 500 billion

The currency slipped 0.1% against the euro, while official reserves stood at MAD 499.3 billion, up 21.9% from a year earlier.

The dirham gained 0.2% against the US dollar and slipped 0.1% against the euro between August 20 and 26, Bank Al-Maghrib said in its latest weekly indicators bulletin.

No foreign exchange auctions were carried out during the period.

Official reserve assets stood at MAD 499.3 billion as of August 19, down 0.1% from the previous week but 21.9% higher than a year earlier.

BAM’s interventions averaged MAD 150.1 billion a day over the period, including MAD 54.7 billion in seven-day advances.

Longer-term repurchase agreements accounted for another MAD 48.1 billion, while guaranteed loans stood at MAD 47.3 billion.
