In an official statement issued on August 2, 2026, the spokesperson for Morocco’s Ministry of the Interior addressed the recent incidents at crossing points leading to Ceuta and Melilla. Blaming human trafficking networks and misinterpretations of legal provisions, the authorities stated that approximately 40,000 people attempted to reach Ceuta, confirming 11 deaths.

King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, accompanied by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid and Prince Moulay Ahmed, chaired, Friday afternoon at the Mechouar Square in the Royal Palace of Tetouan, the allegiance ceremony, in commemoration of the 27th anniversary of the Sovereign’s accession to the Throne of His Glorious Ancestors.
