Morocco’s mobile phone subscriber base remained at record levels, exceeding 58.8 million lines by the end of June 2026, according to the latest figures. The total increased by 0.1% compared with the same period last year, following growth of around 3.2% over the previous year.
The latest economic bulletin issued by the Directorate of Studies and Financial Forecasts showed a slight decline in Morocco’s mobile penetration rate, which stood at 157.9% at the end of the first half of 2026, compared with 159.6% during the same period in 2025. The rate, however, remains well above the level recorded five years earlier, when it stood at 135.6%.
At the same time, fixed-line subscriptions recorded notable growth, rising by 8% during the first half of this year, reflecting continued demand for landline services in professional and office settings.
The internet sector also continued to expand, with the number of subscriptions increasing by 1.9% by the end of the first half of 2026, following growth of 5.2% during the same period a year earlier. The total number of internet subscriptions reached around 42 million.
This expansion pushed Morocco’s internet penetration rate to 112.6% at the end of June, up from 111.8% a year earlier and significantly above the 86.2% recorded in June 2021.
