Morocco’s Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports has confirmed the timetable for the 2026-27 school year. In line with Ministerial Decision No. 047.26, published on July 3, the return to schools will take place in stages before classes officially begin on September 7.
The first phase concerns educational staff. Administrative personnel, inspectors, supervisory and oversight staff, as well as National Education administrators, are due to report to their institutions on September 1 to complete back-to-school administrative procedures. Teachers and teacher-researchers in education and training will return to their posts on September 2.
Students will begin returning to school from September 3. On that day, preschools will reopen, alongside first- and second-year primary pupils, first-year middle school students and first-year upper secondary common core students.
On September 4, classes will resume for third- and fourth-year primary pupils, second-year middle school students and first-year baccalaureate students.
The final group—comprising fifth- and sixth-year primary pupils, third-year middle school students and second-year baccalaureate students—will return to school on September 5.
Classes for all grades and educational levels will officially begin on September 7, 2026.
Programs under Morocco’s non-formal education and Second Chance education schemes will resume on October 5.
The ministry also called on all stakeholders in the education sector, including families and institutional partners, to support the start of the new school year and help ensure students return under the best possible learning conditions.
