The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) on Tuesday officially announced the appointment of Frenchman Hervé Renard as the new head coach of Côte d’Ivoire’s senior national team, replacing Emerse Faé.
In a statement, the federation said the appointment reflects its “determination to build on the progress achieved by the senior national team in recent years while pursuing the ambitions of Ivorian football on both the African and international stage.”
The federation also highlighted Renard’s extensive coaching experience, his in-depth knowledge of African football, and his strong ties to Ivorian football. He will be responsible for maintaining the national team’s momentum in close cooperation with the federation’s governing bodies and technical staff.

The new coach is expected to arrive in Abidjan in the coming days to officially take up his duties. He will be introduced to the media and the sporting public at a news conference to be held on the occasion, the statement added.
Eleven years after leading Côte d’Ivoire to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations title, Renard begins a second spell in charge of the national team. His mission will be to prepare the squad for upcoming international competitions.
On July 31, the Ivorian Football Federation announced its decision to part ways with Emerse Faé after opting not to renew his contract, which had reached its expiry.
