Morocco unveils 120-athlete squad for 2026 Mediterranean Games

Morocco will be represented by 120 athletes at the 20th Mediterranean Games, which will take place in Taranto, Italy, from August 21 to September 3, the Moroccan National Olympic Committee (CNOM) announced.

The delegation comprises 72 men and 48 women, who will compete in 18 sports, according to the CNOM.

The committee confirmed that the Moroccan delegation has been officially registered with the Taranto 2026 organizing committee following the submission of athlete and coaching staff lists by the country’s Royal Sports Federations.

Moroccan athletes will compete in athletics, boxing, fencing, football, gymnastics, weightlifting, judo, karate, wrestling, swimming, padel, boules sports, equestrian events, taekwondo, tennis, shooting, triathlon and sailing.

Football will account for the largest contingent, with 36 players across the men’s and women’s competitions, followed by athletics (25 athletes), boxing (9), karate (7) and taekwondo (6).

Morocco will also field five athletes each in judo, tennis and wrestling, alongside competitors in the remaining individual and team disciplines.

Held every four years, the Mediterranean Games bring together athletes from countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea and are regarded as one of the region’s premier multi-sport events. The 2026 edition marks the 20th staging of the Games.
