Morocco’s futsal national team opens its 2026 Africa Cup of Nations campaign against Algeria on Monday, October 12, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat. Here is how to watch the Atlas Lions’ first match of the tournament.
Morocco begins its AFCON campaign on home soil, where the tournament runs through October 21. The Atlas Lions, who won the last three editions in 2016, 2020 and 2024, are aiming to secure a fourth consecutive continental title in front of their home fans.
For their opening Group A match, which also features Zambia and Libya, head coach Hicham Dguig can count on a 14-player squad led by captain Soufiane El Mesrar.
The Atlas Lions held their final training session on Sunday, focusing on tactical adjustments ahead of the opening game.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Dguig welcomed Algeria’s participation in the tournament.
“Algeria struggled to qualify for the AFCON. On several occasions, they came close to qualifying but failed to make it. I’m happy they are here and that the competition will be strong,” he said.
El Mesrar, meanwhile, said his teammates were ready for the challenge.
“The tactical work has been carried out meticulously. We know Hicham Dguig and his methods well, and we have been working together for a long time,” the captain said.
After facing Algeria, Morocco will take on Zambia on Wednesday before concluding the group stage against Libya on Friday, October 16.
The Morocco-Algeria match kicks off at 20:00 and will be broadcast live on Arryadia, the SNRT group’s third channel.
