Netflix has confirmed that Formula 1: Drive to Survive will return for a ninth season, bringing fans another behind-the-scenes look at the 2026 Formula 1 championship.

The series, which first premiered on Netflix in 2019, has become a regular fixture on the Formula 1 calendar, offering viewers an inside look at the teams and the rivalries, pressure, and personalities that define each season.

The new season will center on the 2026 championship, which has already generated several storylines, including Kimi Antonelli’s rise as the youngest-ever leader of the drivers’ championship and shifts in the competitive landscape as teams continue to develop their cars.

James Gay-Rees and Paul Martin, executive producers at Box to Box Films, which produces the series, expressed their enthusiasm for the renewal.

“We’re so excited to be making Season 9 of this iconic show,” they said. “This year we’re going to go deeper than ever before into the hidden spaces of this fantastic sport.”

The announcement comes while the 2026 championship is still in progress, with many races remaining before its conclusion. These upcoming races will provide the content for the latest installment of the series as the title fight and battles across the field continue to unfold.

Drive to Survive first premiered in 2019 and has since broadened Formula 1’s appeal to a wider audience by focusing not only on race results but also on the individuals and events behind them.

A release date for the ninth season of Drive to Survive has not yet been announced.
