Real Sociedad have reached a verbal agreement with Olympique de Marseille to re-sign Nayef Aguerd, one year after the Moroccan international left the Basque club, according to Italian transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.
The deal is expected to be structured as a €4 million loan with an option to buy worth €11 million.
Despite interest from several clubs, including Qatar’s Al Sadd and Italian side Napoli, the Atlas Lion reportedly made a return to Real Sociedad his priority, eager to rejoin the Spanish club where he impressed during the 2024-25 campaign.
Aguerd joined Marseille from West Ham during the 2025 summer transfer window and could now be set for a swift return to La Liga just one season later.
During his previous spell in San Sebastián, the Moroccan center-back made 36 appearances in all competitions for Real Sociedad.
Unless the deal collapses at the last minute, Aguerd will return to a league he knows well, with the possibility of making the move permanent should Real Sociedad decide to activate the purchase option.
