The Southern Zone Command of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) in Agadir is hosting the first planning meeting for the African Lion 2027 military exercise, which will run through September 25.
The participating delegations, including those from Morocco and the United States, are defining training objectives and operational concepts for the exercise scheduled from April 25 to May 7, 2027.
According to the FAR, the meeting has been taking place since September 21, bringing together Moroccan and US delegations along with representatives from other participating countries to lay the groundwork for the next multinational military exercise.
The meeting, which continues through September 25, brings together representatives from several countries, including Morocco and the United States. The FAR said the gathering is intended to strengthen coordination among participating nations and promote the exchange of expertise.
The delegations are planning the different stages of the exercise and setting specific training objectives for each scheduled activity.

Participants are also developing the operational and logistical concepts for activities and operations planned across the land, air and maritime domains. Special forces operations are also among the topics being discussed.
African Lion 2027 will take place from April 25 to May 7, 2027, in Agadir, Tan-Tan, Guelmim, Benguerir, Kenitra and Dakhla.
The exercise is designed to strengthen interoperability and cooperation among the participating forces, while also improving operational readiness and developing their ability to conduct joint and integrated operations, including through the use of modern technologies. These objectives are part of efforts to support regional security and stability.
