The government council on Tuesday approved the Finance Bill for 2027, paving the way for its submission to Parliament as the government faces an Oct 20 deadline to table next year’s budget.

The draft, presented by Economy, Finance and Public Performance Minister Fouzi Lekjaa, was approved at a meeting chaired by Head of Government Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, government spokesman Samir Belfkih said in a statement.

Under Article 75 of the Constitution, the Finance Bill must first be laid before the House of Representatives, while Article 48 of the Organic Law on Finance requires its submission by Oct 20 each year.

The bill will then be taken up by lawmakers for debate and approval before its promulgation.
