The Tamaris 1, Tamaris 2, and Tamaris 3 beaches in the municipality of Dar Bouazza, in Morocco’s Nouaceur Province, have undergone a major upgrade ahead of the 2026 summer season.
A series of new facilities and free services has been introduced to improve conditions for beachgoers while enhancing the area’s appeal as a seaside destination.
Among the new attractions is a large swimming pool with a capacity of more than 45 cubic meters, installed at the entrance to the Tamaris 2 waterfront. The facility is designed to introduce children and visitors to the basics of swimming. Introductory scuba diving sessions will also be offered using specialized equipment under the supervision of certified national instructors.
Another key addition this season is free Wi-Fi, available from the entrances to the beaches.
Zouheir Majour, director of the Moroccan Beach Development Company, told Le360 that the upgrades were carried out in accordance with directives issued by Jalal Benhayoun, governor of Nouaceur Province.
He said the project was financed directly by Airports of Morocco, the initiative’s official partner, enabling the three beaches to receive new infrastructure designed to meet visitors’ expectations. He added that the development plan placed particular emphasis on expanding free public services while preserving the coastal environment.
Free facilities and enhanced safety
Nearly 500 beach umbrellas have been installed free of charge across Tamaris 1 and Tamaris 2, while 600 waste bins have been placed along the coastline, including 200 environmentally friendly wooden bins.
Majour also said that a mechanical beach-cleaning machine now sifts and cleans the sand every morning with support from maintenance teams. Foot-rinse stations and free public restrooms have also been installed at the main beach entrances.
On the safety front, nine lifeguard stations have been set up between Tamaris 1 and Tamaris 3 and placed at the disposal of Civil Protection to help ensure the safety of beachgoers.
The beaches have also been equipped with multi-service administrative centers, bringing together all the agencies involved in managing the coastline. These facilities include representatives from the Royal Gendarmerie, Civil Protection, the Moroccan Red Crescent, and local authorities, allowing for continuous coordination and improved public safety across the beaches.
Majour also announced that interactive recycling workshops will be organized for children throughout the summer.
In addition, the beaches will host more than 13 national water sports championships as part of the Clean Beaches program, which is associated with the Blue Flag environmental certification.
