An 18-year-old has been arrested in Marrakech on suspicion of a violent bag snatching that caused a woman to fall from a motorcycle before she was struck and killed by a car. Police are still searching for the driver of the vehicle.

Police in Marrakech have arrested an 18-year-old suspected of involvement in a violent bag snatching that led to the death of a woman after she fell from a motorcycle and was struck by a car.

According to a security source, the victim was riding on a motorcycle with her son when the suspect snatched her handbag, causing her to fall onto the road.

She was subsequently run over by a passing vehicle and died from her injuries.

Police investigations led to the identification of the suspect, who was arrested Tuesday. Officers also seized the motorcycle he used during the theft.

The 18-year-old has been placed in police custody as part of a judicial investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office.

Investigators are seeking to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and determine the suspect’s alleged role in the woman’s death.

Police are also conducting further searches to identify and locate the driver of the car that struck the victim. Once apprehended, the driver is expected to be questioned as part of the judicial investigation.
