Police in Marrakesh arrested a man on Wednesday, August 5, on suspicion of extortion and operating as an unlicensed tour guide.
According to a police source, the suspect allegedly extorted two foreign tourists in Marrakesh’s old medina. He reportedly demanded money he was not entitled to, falsely claiming to provide tour guide services without the required license.
The alleged incident was captured in a video that circulated on social media. Police investigations subsequently led to the identification and arrest of the suspect on Wednesday.
The suspect has been placed in police custody pending a judicial investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to determine all the circumstances and background of the case.
