FIFA President Gianni Infantino has convened a high-level meeting of the governing body’s senior officials in Morocco as he seeks to contain the fallout from the collapse of his FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) project, according to Reuters.
The meeting, described by the publication as a “crisis meeting,” is being held in Rabat, home to FIFA’s African regional office, as criticism of Infantino continues despite his decision to abandon the initiative.
FFE, unveiled only days ago, proposed creating a commercial entity that would open part of FIFA’s business operations to private investors. The company would have managed the organization’s commercial rights and major events, a plan that immediately sparked strong opposition from several football confederations and senior FIFA officials.

Among the project’s most vocal critics were UEFA and Concacaf, whose leaders reportedly warned that introducing private capital into FIFA’s commercial activities risked undermining the governance and integrity of world football.
Facing mounting resistance, Infantino withdrew the proposal before it reached a formal vote.
The reversal, however, has failed to end the controversy.
According to Reuters, the FIFA president is now attempting to restore confidence within football’s governing body amid growing internal tensions. The publication also reports that concerns are emerging over Infantino’s prospects for re-election at the FIFA Congress scheduled for March 2027 in Morocco, a contest that until recently had appeared largely uncontested.
