Morocco’s women’s national team beat Uzbekistan 3-1 on Friday, October 9, at Rabat’s Olympic Stadium, giving new head coach Éric Blahic a winning start. Ibtissam Jraidi scored all three goals in the closed-door friendly.

The Al Hilal forward struck three times in 14 minutes, scoring in the 65th, 67th and 79th minutes to secure the victory for the Atlas Lionesses.

The match was Blahic’s first in charge of Morocco’s women’s team. The French coach was appointed to replace Spain’s Jorge Vilda and began his tenure with a win.

The two teams will meet again on Monday, October 12, for a second friendly, scheduled for 18:00 at Al Madina Stadium in Rabat.

The matches form part of Morocco’s preparations for the qualifying campaign for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

FIFA recently informed the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) that Morocco’s senior women’s team had received direct qualification to the third round of the African qualifiers following the withdrawal of Congo, announced by the Congolese Football Federation (FECOFOOT).

In the next round, scheduled for early 2027, the Atlas Lionesses will face the winner of the two-legged tie between Comoros and Nigeria.
