The Moroccan national billiards team is continuing its campaign at the 2026 World Billiards Championships in Marrakech, where it has recorded several wins against opponents from different regions of the world.
Organized under the auspices of the Ultimate Pool Association (UPA) and the International Eightball Pool Federation (IEPF), the tournament runs through September 27 and features several events and categories, including team competitions, individual events, doubles and Masters categories.
In the team competition, Morocco defeated South Africa 18-3, the Philippines 15-6, India 15-6 and Algeria 13-8, as well as Georgia 12-9.
The national team, however, lost to Ireland 8-13, Australia 10-11 and France 7-14.
Morocco also recorded wins over Bahrain 12-9, Scotland 13-8 and Belgium 14-7, continuing its campaign in the international competition.
Further matches are scheduled in the coming days, including against Wales, Mauritius, New Zealand, Northern Ireland and Senegal.
Monday’s program also featured two all-Moroccan clashes. Omar Mounchid defeated Elhoucine Bououlaoun 7-4, while Amine Amiri beat Abderrahmanne Chorfy 7-1.
The two matches gave Moroccan players the opportunity to face one another directly during this edition of the World Billiards Championships.
Speaking to MAP, the two winners expressed satisfaction with their respective victories and said they were pleased with their performances and the outcome of the clashes between fellow Moroccans.
They also expressed their determination to continue competing with the same motivation, with the aim of achieving strong results and representing Morocco with distinction at the World Championships.
