Société régionale multiservices Casablanca-Settat (SRM Casablanca-Settat) is helping implement a major program to expand and improve access to drinking water in centers and douars across the region, with a focus on rural areas. The program is being carried out in partnership with the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council.
It falls under the National Drinking Water Supply and Irrigation Program 2020-2027 (PNAEPI). The program has a total budget of 350.8 million dirhams, covering studies, technical assistance and land acquisition. The Ministry of Interior is providing 245.6 million dirhams, while the General Directorate of Territorial Communities is contributing 105.2 million dirhams.
The projects cover the supply of drinking water to 25 centers at a cost of 150 million dirhams, improved water access for rural populations in 341 douars at a cost of 150.8 million dirhams, and the development of water points in 80 douars for 50 million dirhams.
The program addresses two key challenges: reducing regional disparities in access to drinking water and bringing this essential service closer to rural populations. Depending on the projects involved, the work includes building and upgrading the infrastructure needed to supply drinking water to the targeted centers and douars.
SRM Casablanca-Settat is directly overseeing projects worth nearly 44 million dirhams including tax in the provinces of Sidi Bennour and El Jadida.
In Sidi Bennour, the projects cover six centers: Sebt Lamaarif, Ouled Amrane, M’Tal, Metrane, Ouled Si Bouhya and Bni Hilal. The total cost is 35 million dirhams including tax. The work includes building and upgrading drinking water networks, constructing elevated reservoirs and related facilities, installing booster stations and providing individual connections. Overall progress currently stands at around 90%.

In El Jadida, the project involves supplying drinking water to the center of Sidi Hssein Ben Abderrahmane and six douars in the Ouled Hcine commune, at a cost of around 8.6 million dirhams including tax. It includes 19 kilometers of pipelines, nine public standpipes, a 150-cubic-meter elevated reservoir and upgrades to the pumping station. The project serves around 1,200 households, or nearly 6,000 residents. Work has now been completed.
