FBI Director Kash Patel has written to Moroccan police officers deployed to the United States during the 2026 World Cup, commending their work with the international security teams assembled for the tournament.
The officers had been sent by the DGSN-DGST security services to work at an international security cooperation center set up during the competition, where personnel from participating countries worked alongside their US counterparts.
In his letter, Patel cited the professionalism and skills shown by the Moroccan contingent during the assignment and pointed in particular to its experience in securing major sporting events.
That experience, according to the FBI chief, proved a “value added” to the international operation, helping coordination between the different security teams and contributing to preventive work during the tournament.
The Moroccan officers were also involved in arrangements surrounding supporters and matches, as US authorities dealt with spectators arriving from different countries over the course of the competition.
Their deployment came as Morocco itself prepares for major football events and has built up experience in security operations around international sporting fixtures.
The DGSN-DGST said Patel’s letter reflected the security cooperation between Rabat and Washington, particularly in preparations for and management of major international events.
