Peru’s incoming government pledges to support Morocco’s territorial integrity & sovereignty over its southern provinces

Peru president-elect receives Morocco ambassador Amin Chaoudri

The future Peruvian government is committed to supporting Morocco’s territorial integrity and its sovereignty over its Southern provinces, the Office of Peru’s President-elect Keiko Fujimori announced on Tuesday.

The position was expressed during a meeting with Morocco’s ambassador to Peru, Amin Chaoudri, who delivered a message of congratulations from King Mohammed VI following Fujimori’s election as Peru’s next president.

According to the President-elect’s Office, the meeting underscored the incoming government’s commitment to supporting Morocco’s territorial integrity and its sovereignty over its southern provinces.

Fujimori also reaffirmed her full support for U.N. Security Council Resolution 2797, which recognizes the Autonomy Plan as the basis for a settlement, with a view to reaching a final solution to the regional dispute over the Sahara, the same source added.

In his congratulatory message, King Mohammed VI conveyed his warm congratulations to Fujimori on the trust placed in her by the Peruvian people to fulfill their aspirations towards further progress and prosperity.

The King also welcomed the special bonds between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Peru, describing them as being founded on solid friendship, mutual esteem, and shared values.

The Sovereign expressed his willingness to work alongside the Peruvian President to give new impetus to these relations towards a multidimensional partnership, in the interest of the two friendly peoples.
