The arrest of YouTuber Ali Lmrabet at Tangier Airport was carried out on the basis of several outstanding wanted notices issued in connection with the alleged publication of a series of digital content containing defamatory and insulting statements targeting individuals and institutions, as well as statements deemed insulting toward bodies established by law, the King’s Prosecutor at the Casablanca Court of First Instance’s Criminal Division said.

Following information circulated on certain social media platforms regarding the arrest of YouTuber Ali Lmrabet, the King’s Prosecutor at the Casablanca Court of First Instance’s Criminal Division announced that the individual was arrested at Tangier Airport on the basis of several wanted notices previously issued against him for his alleged involvement in acts punishable by law, stemming from his alleged publication of a series of digital content containing defamatory and insulting statements targeting individuals and institutions, as well as statements deemed insulting toward bodies established by law.

In a statement, the King’s Prosecutor at the Casablanca Court of First Instance’s Criminal Division said that, upon the instructions of the Public Prosecution, the individual was transferred to the headquarters of the National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ) in Casablanca, in its capacity as the authority in charge of the investigation.

The suspect was placed in police custody for the purposes of the investigation conducted under the supervision of the Public Prosecution, in order to question him regarding the acts attributed to him, in full compliance with all procedural guarantees afforded to him by law and with the presumption of innocence, the same source added.

The individual will be referred to the same Public Prosecution upon completion of the investigation so that the appropriate legal consequences may be determined, the statement concluded.
