The Provincial Committee for Human Development (CPDH) of Azilal, meeting on Wednesday, approved four social projects with a combined investment of nearly MAD 9.76 million under additional funding allocated to the “Human Capital Impulse for Rising Generations” program.

Chaired by Azilal Governor Hassan Zitouni and attended by the province’s secretary-general, elected officials and civil society representatives, the meeting focused largely on how to implement a ministerial circular on reforming and improving school transport services in rural areas.

A detailed presentation was given on the initiative, which aims to define the responsibilities of the various stakeholders, establish effective governance for this essential service and facilitate students’ access to schools in safe and suitable conditions.

Speaking to MAP, Issam Ben Assou, head of the Social Action Division (DAS) at Azilal Province, said the meeting, the CPDH’s second of 2026, addressed the provisions of the ministerial note on school transport as well as the approval of new projects with significant social impact.

Improving school transport requires a detailed scientific, technical and financial study at the level of local authorities, he said, with the aim of improving school enrollment indicators. He added that the four approved projects primarily focus on maternal health and education.

Under the “Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition” component, MAD 2.2 million has been allocated to purchase four fully equipped ambulances.

The “Support for Schooling and Personal Development” component received more than MAD 7.56 million. This funding will cover the study on school transport management mentioned above, with MAD 1 million allocated for the study, as well as the purchase of 10 school buses for MAD 5 million.

The same component also provides more than MAD 1.56 million to refurbish the province’s Dar Talib and Dar Taliba student residences. The operation will target accommodation facilities in Ait Tamlil, Tilougguite, Tanant, Imlil, Tiffert N’Ait Hamza, Tidili Fetouaka, Rfala, Afourar and Foum Jamaa.

The projects are part of the Azilal provincial authorities’ efforts to strengthen social infrastructure, combat school dropout and improve maternal and child health, particularly in rural and mountainous areas.
