Among the measures approved was an amendment to the resolution establishing Fez Industrial Development, along with the company’s bylaws and the region’s contribution to its capital. The company will be tasked with developing, managing and marketing industrial zones across the region.

Its responsibilities will cover the Ain Beida industrial zone in Fez, Ain Cheggag in Sefrou province and Ouislane in Meknes, as well as six new industrial zones whose launch was approved by the regional council during its July 2025 session.

The move is intended to unify the management of these industrial areas and support the development of industrial activity across the region.

New projects in handicrafts and infrastructure

In the handicrafts sector, the council approved an agreement to establish and equip the second phase of the Sefrou Handicrafts Complex.

The Fez-Meknes region will contribute MAD 6 million to the project, which has a total budget of MAD 14.4 million. Other partners include the regional government, Sefrou province, the Sefrou municipal council and Al Omrane.

The council also approved a partnership agreement to establish a handicrafts activity hub for small and medium-sized enterprises in Taza province. The project has a total budget of MAD 20 million, fully financed by the region, and is included in the 2020-2022 state-region program contract.

On infrastructure and natural disaster prevention, the council approved a partnership agreement to protect the city of Taza from flooding and reduce its impact on residents, property and infrastructure.

The project has a total budget of MAD 50 million, with MAD 10 million contributed by the regional council. The remaining partners are the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Equipment and Water, the Taza municipal council and the Sebou River Basin Agency.

The council also approved an amendment to the agreement covering the construction of a convention center in Fez. The project is included in the 2020-2022 state-region program contract and is being built on land owned by the regional council. Construction is 95% complete.

MAD 10 million for MAS Fez

In sports, the council approved a partnership agreement with Maghreb Association Sportive de Fès football club as part of a program supporting sporting excellence and achievements by regional teams at the national level.

The council will provide the club with MAD 10 million in financial support.

The council also approved funding for several projects aimed at improving access to basic services in local communities.

This includes MAD 400,000 for the municipality of Imouzzer Kandar in Sefrou province to purchase an ambulance, as well as MAD 900,000 to provide drinking water to the village of Ait Ouad El Fell in the Ait Sebaa Lajrouf municipality in the same province.

A further MAD 100,000 was allocated to support a water connection project for residents of Ain Mersa in Adghagh, part of the Tizguite municipality in Ifrane province.

The projects are intended to improve access to basic services, strengthen local infrastructure and reduce regional disparities across Fez-Meknes.
