The FIA has approved the 2027 Formula 1 calendar, with Bahrain returning as the season opener and Portugal and Türkiye coming back to the schedule after both were last featured in 2021.
The championship will again consist of 24 Grands Prix, marking the fourth consecutive season with the same number of rounds. The season will begin in Bahrain on March 12-14 before Saudi Arabia hosts the second round one week later.
Australia will move to third on the calendar on April 2-4, followed by Japan and China to form the first triple-header of the season. Miami will then host the sixth round before Canada on May 21-23.
Several changes will affect the European part of the calendar. Monaco will host a Sprint weekend for the first time on June 4-6, while Portugal will return to the schedule from June 18-20 at Portimão.
The Portuguese Grand Prix was last held in 2021, with the Algarve circuit having also hosted a race in 2020 after being added to the calendar during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Great Britain will host the next Sprint weekend on July 2-4, followed by Austria one week later. Belgium and Hungary will then host consecutive races before the summer break.
The break will last five weeks in 2027, one week longer than the usual four-week period. Racing will resume at Monza on September 3-5, with the Italian Grand Prix also hosting a Sprint. Madrid will then host the Spanish Grand Prix one week later.
The 2027 calendar also confirms the removal of the Dutch Grand Prix from Zandvoort. Barcelona-Catalunya will not host a race in 2027 as its event enters a rotation with Spa-Francorchamps. Barcelona-Catalunya is scheduled to return in even-numbered years from 2028, while Spa-Francorchamps will host the corresponding Belgian round in odd-numbered years from 2027.
Türkiye will return to the Formula 1 calendar on October 1-3 at Istanbul Park for the first time since 2021, when the Turkish Grand Prix was last held there. The race will form a triple-header with Azerbaijan and Singapore.
The championship will then move to the United States, Mexico and Brazil before the Las Vegas Grand Prix on November 19-21. Qatar and Abu Dhabi will complete the season in December, with Abu Dhabi hosting the final round on December 10-12.
Another major change concerns Sprint weekends. Their number will rise from six in 2026 to 10 in 2027, with Bahrain, Australia, Japan, Monaco and Abu Dhabi joining Canada, Great Britain, Italy, Brazil and Qatar as Sprint venues.
Bahrain will also host the only pre-season test, a four-day session scheduled for February 24-27. The shorter testing program follows the extensive preparation for the 2026 season, when teams faced a major overhaul of the technical regulations.
