Several days after Morocco’s quarterfinal defeat to France at the 2026 World Cup, Achraf Hakimi has spoken publicly for the first time. On Wednesday, July 15, the Paris Saint-Germain defender took to social media to thank Moroccan fans and express confidence in the national team’s future.

The Atlas Lions captain addressed fans on his social media accounts following Morocco’s 2-0 defeat to France in the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Cup. Hakimi shared an optimistic message following Morocco’s 2-0 loss to France, praising the team’s journey while looking ahead to what comes next.

“Great nations are not defined by defeat, but by everything they build. Morocco continues to write its story. And the best is yet to come,” he wrote.

Hakimi featured in all six of Morocco’s matches at the 2026 World Cup. The Atlas Lions captain scored once and provided two assists during the tournament.
