Morocco’s national football team held its first training session in Bloemfontein, South Africa, on Sunday, September 27, a day after arriving in the city and two days before their clash with Lesotho.
According to a statement from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), the session began at 3 p.m. at Ramabodu Stadium in Rocklands and focused on continuing the team’s preparations for the match, with particular attention to technical and tactical aspects.
All the players currently in Bloemfontein took part in the session, while international defender Nayef Aguerd did not travel to South Africa.
Aguerd is continuing his rehabilitation program at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmora alongside the technical staff of Morocco’s U23 national team.
The Moroccan defender will nevertheless remain available to the senior national team ahead of the friendly against Ghana scheduled for October 4 in Tangier.

Following the opening round of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Morocco lead Group A with three points and a +2 goal difference, ahead of Niger, who also have three points with a +1 goal difference. Lesotho and Gabon are at the bottom of the group without any points.
In the second round, the Atlas Lions will face Lesotho on Tuesday, September 29, in Bloemfontein. The match will kick off at 3 p.m. (1 p.m. GMT) at Free State Toyota Stadium.
