The Atlas Lions move up one place to fifth in the world after Brazil were held to a 1-1 draw by Australia in a friendly.

The Atlas Lions have climbed to fifth place in the FIFA ranking, updated in real time this Friday, September 25, with Morocco now on 1,803.99 points.

Mohamed Ouahbi’s side moved up the global standings after Brazil drew 1-1 with Australia in a friendly played Friday.

Brazil lost 2.02 points and dropped to sixth with 1,802.90 points, just behind Morocco.

The rest of the top five remains unchanged. Spain retain top spot following their World Cup triumph, ahead of Argentina, France and England. Morocco now complete the top five.

The Atlas Lions had already reached fifth in the world on June 20 after beating Scotland 1-0 in the group stage of the 2026 World Cup, matching the highest ranking ever achieved by an African national team.

The Atlas Lions’ next outing is scheduled for this Friday at 8 p.m. against Gabon, as they begin their campaign in the Pamoja 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
