Karolina Muchova and Jakub Mensik won the 2026 US Open mixed doubles title on Wednesday, August 26, beating Belinda Bencic and Flavio Cobolli 6-3, 1-6, [10-6] in the final at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The all-Czech pair had already faced a tough test in the semifinals earlier in the day, beating Mirra Andreeva and Andrey Rublev after saving two match points in the deciding match tiebreak.
In the final, Muchova and Mensik took the first set 6-3 before Bencic and Cobolli responded with a 6-1 second set. The Czech duo then pulled away in the deciding tiebreak, winning three straight points from 1-1 before closing out the match on Mensik’s ace on their third championship point.
The victory marked the first Grand Slam title of both players’ careers.
“It’s my first time standing here,” Mensik said. “I didn’t expect this before the tournament, but it’s such great fun. It was amazing to play and start the US Open like that.”
Muchova, who reached the Wimbledon singles final last month, said she had not expected to leave the tournament with the trophy.
“I wasn’t really expecting to be standing here tonight,” Muchova said. “We came out just having fun and enjoyed this mixed doubles event and now we are standing here.”
The title adds to a strong summer for Mensik. The 20-year-old reached his first Grand Slam singles semifinal at Roland Garros in June, defeating Rublev in the fourth round and João Fonseca in the quarterfinals along the way, before losing to eventual champion Alexander Zverev.
