The Atlas Lionesses will take on the Indomitable Lionesses in the semifinals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. Jorge Vilda’s side booked their place with a 2-1 win over South Africa in Saturday’s quarterfinal, while Cameroon defeated Nigeria 1-0 on Sunday. The semifinal will be played on Wednesday, August 13, at 9 p.m. at the Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat, with a place in the final at stake.
The Morocco-Cameroon semifinal will be the fourth meeting between the two teams. Their first encounter came in the group stage of the 2000 Women’s AFCON in South Africa, where Cameroon won 4-1.
The two sides met again in 2021 at the Aisha Buhari Cup in Nigeria. This time, the Atlas Lionesses prevailed 1-0, with Fatima Tagnaout scoring the decisive goal.
Their most recent meeting came in 2025, in a friendly played in Casablanca, where Cameroon won 1-0.
In their first knockout stage meeting at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, the Atlas Lionesses will look to secure a place in the final of the 2026 tournament.
