FIFA’s organizing committee has appointed an all-English refereeing team to oversee the 2026 FIFA World Cup round-of-16 clash between Morocco and Canada. Michael Oliver will take charge of the match, assisted by Stuart Burt and James Mainwaring.
Dutch referee Danny Makkelie has been named fourth official, while his compatriot Hessel Steegstra will serve as reserve assistant referee. The pair are already familiar with the Atlas Lions at this World Cup, having officiated Morocco’s group-stage match against Haiti, with Makkelie as referee and Steegstra as first assistant.
The Atlas Lions arrived in Houston, Texas, on Tuesday, where they have continued preparations for Saturday’s encounter. The match is scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m. (Moroccan time) at NRG Stadium, with a place in the quarterfinals at stake.
