“Fête du Cinéma” will return to Morocco for its third edition from September 10 to 13, giving audiences across the country the chance to watch films at a reduced price.
The event is aimed at families, students, film lovers and occasional cinema-goers. Participating cinema chains will offer tickets for 30 dirhams per screening throughout the four days.
The initiative follows the success of the first two editions and brings together distributors, cinema operators and other industry professionals to make cinemas more accessible, bring more audiences to theatres and celebrate the vitality of the seventh art in Morocco.
This year’s edition will also feature Les Baronnes, the latest film by Belgian-Moroccan director Nabil Ben Yadir. It will be released in Moroccan cinemas on September 9, a day before Fête du Cinéma begins.
The film comes around 15 years after Les Barons, Ben Yadir’s earlier success. This time, the director focuses on women through a social comedy.
The cast includes co-director Mokhtaria Badoui, Saadia Bentaïeb, Rachida Riahi, Rachida Bouganem, Halima El Amrani and Sania Sraïdi. The story follows mothers and daughters from different backgrounds as they seek to shape their own lives and futures.
The organizers said the event is being held with the support of participating cinema chains and other industry players, while highlighting the role of cinemas as cultural and social spaces.
The 30-dirham ticket is intended to make cinema more accessible and encourage more people to watch films on the big screen.
