A new 130 million-dirham road project is underway in Casablanca’s Hay Hassani district, where authorities are building a nearly six-kilometer corridor designed to improve traffic flow between Lissasfa and Azemmour Road while supporting broader urban development in the southwestern part of Morocco’s largest city.
Provisionally designated HH26, the new road will connect El Jadida Road (Avenue Abdellah Ibrahim) to Azemmour Road, which leads toward Casablanca’s Atlantic coastline. The route will also pass through Al Azhar Road and the Charaf neighborhood, creating an additional east-west connection across the district.
According to Tahar Layoussifi, president of the Hay Hassani district council, the project was identified as a priority at the start of the council’s current term and is being delivered through a partnership involving the Hay Hassani Prefecture, the Wilaya of the Casablanca-Settat Region, the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council, and the City of Casablanca.
“The joint mobilization of these institutions has made it possible to deliver a project considered strategic for improving mobility in this part of the metropolis,” Layoussifi told Le360.
Beyond serving local traffic, the new road is expected to function as an alternative route to Casablanca’s ring road, helping ease congestion on one of the city’s busiest transport corridors.
The project also includes a range of urban improvements alongside the roadway. Authorities plan to install LED street lighting and plant trees along the entire route, combining transport infrastructure with measures aimed at enhancing the surrounding public space.

Layoussifi said the HH26 corridor will complement other road projects already completed in Hay Hassani, notably the HH20 and HH18 roads, both of which have already been opened to traffic in line with the district’s urban development plan.
The district council has also approved official names for the newly developed roads. Those names will be announced once the remaining administrative procedures have been completed.
