The Moroccan Aerospace Industries Association (GIMAS) has announced the appointment of Mohammed Bellatig as president of the organization, effective July 8, 2026.
An aeronautical engineer trained at the École Nationale Supérieure de l’Aéronautique et de l’Espace (ISAE SupAéro) in Toulouse, Bellatig spent his entire career at Royal Air Maroc, primarily in aircraft maintenance, according to a GIMAS statement.

As technical director at the national carrier, he contributed to several industrial development projects, including the creation of joint ventures within the Royal Air Maroc Group. These include SAESM (formerly SMES) for engine maintenance; MATIS, a Boeing and Safran partnership specializing in aircraft wiring; Aerotechnic Industries (ATI) with Air France-KLM for heavy aircraft maintenance, and Satys SP Maroc, established with the Satys Group, a global leader in aircraft painting, where Bellatig currently serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
He also chaired the boards of SAESM and Aerotechnic Industries (ATI).
Bellatig previously served as GIMAS’ first president when the association was established on September 11, 2006, helping lay the foundations of what has since become one of Morocco’s fastest-growing industrial sectors.
He has also contributed to several industry publications, including MRO Management, ID Aero, Snecma Magazine, and African Aviation Magazine.
