With the arrival of the new aircraft, Morocco’s national carrier now operates 13 Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The delivery also brings Royal Air Maroc’s total fleet to 68 aircraft, the largest in the airline’s history.

The fleet expansion forms part of the airline’s broader network growth strategy. In recent months, Royal Air Maroc has launched around 20 new nonstop routes connecting Morocco with major business and tourist destinations, including Beijing, São Paulo, Los Angeles, St. Petersburg, Manchester, and N’Djamena.

Royal Air Maroc’s development plan calls for the addition of an average of 10 to 15 aircraft per year. Each aircraft undergoes a rigorous technical process to ensure compliance with international requirements as well as the airline’s own standards,” Oussama El Farisi, RAM’s Head of Engineering, previously told Le360.

The expansion is part of the program agreement signed in July 2023 between the Moroccan government and the national carrier, which aims to quadruple the airline’s fleet to 200 aircraft by 2037. To support that objective, a tender covering the acquisition of 188 aircraft has been launched.

According to Bloomberg, Royal Air Maroc is considering the purchase of around 20 Boeing 787 Dreamliners for long-haul operations, up to 50 Boeing 737 aircraft for short- and medium-haul routes, and around 20 Airbus A220s for regional services.

In addition to Boeing and Airbus, other manufacturers are also being considered, including Franco-Italian aircraft maker ATR and Brazilian manufacturer Embraer. The first deliveries under the fleet renewal and expansion program are expected to begin in 2028.
