Morocco’s airports recorded significantly shorter border control processing times during the first half of 2026, reflecting efforts to improve the passenger experience while handling continued growth in air traffic, Airports of Morocco (formerly the National Airports Office, ONDA) said on Tuesday.
The airport operator said the average departure passport control processing time nationwide fell to 3.6 minutes, down 24% from a year earlier. At arrival, the average processing time dropped to 9.6 minutes, a 22% improvement compared with the first half of 2025.
At Casablanca Mohammed V Airport, the country’s largest airport and main regional hub, average arrival processing time fell to 5.4 minutes, down from nearly 12 minutes a year earlier, representing a 54% improvement.
Departure processing time at Casablanca Mohammed V also declined sharply to 2.25 minutes, compared with about 7.5 minutes during the first half of 2025, a 70% reduction.
At Marrakech Menara Airport, Morocco’s second-largest airport and a major gateway for tourists, average border control processing time reached 6.86 minutes for arriving passengers, down 16%, and 5.09 minutes for departing travelers, a 22.5% improvement.
The trend was also reflected across other airports in the network. At Tangier Airport, average arrival processing time dropped by 52% to 11.93 minutes. Fes Airport recorded one of the fastest departure processing times in the country at 1.53 minutes, while Agadir Airport maintained an average arrival processing time of under 10 minutes.
Airports of Morocco attributed the improved performance to close coordination among all stakeholders involved in airport operations, particularly the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) and the Ministry of the Interior, whose efforts helped streamline border checks while maintaining high security standards.
Airports of Morocco said its goal is to position Moroccan airports as regional benchmarks for service quality and operational efficiency. The operator added that this ambition is fully aligned with its Airports 2030 strategy, which places the passenger experience at the heart of the transformation of the country’s airport infrastructure.
