Morocco’s largest airport is entering a new chapter. El Arbi Es-Sobaihi has been appointed director of Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca, the country’s busiest airport and its primary gateway to major international air networks.
A senior executive at the National Airports Office (ONDA), Es-Sobaihi brings more than 20 years of experience in airport operations. After leading terminal operations and later heading the Operations Department at Mohammed V Airport, he has, since 2025, overseen strategic coordination across the airport’s various departments. He also played a key role in several major projects, including the commissioning of Casablanca’s Terminal 1.

In his new role, Es-Sobaihi will oversee the transformation of Morocco’s leading aviation hub, with a mandate to improve operational performance, enhance the passenger experience and support the territorial development goals outlined in the “Airports 2030” strategy. Together with the airport’s teams, he will be tasked with managing sustainable traffic growth while raising performance across the indicators that matter most, including punctuality, passenger flow, customer service, safety, operational coordination and passenger satisfaction.
The appointment comes as ONDA accelerates investment in airport infrastructure to accommodate strong growth in air traffic, particularly ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
It also reflects ONDA’s commitment to placing experienced operational professionals—those with first-hand knowledge of airport management—at the forefront of one of the most significant transformations the sector has undergone in Morocco.
