After wrapping up filming for the third season of his travel series Conan O’Brien Must Go, which airs on HBO Max, the comedian also posed for Moroccan photographer Hassan Hajjaj at his concept store, Jajjah Tea, in Marrakech.
Opened in 2021 in the creative and industrial district of Sidi Ghanem, Jajjah is Hassan Hajjaj’s second project in Marrakech. The venue combines a Moroccan street-food restaurant, a tea lounge featuring its own signature blends, and a gallery showcasing the work of emerging Moroccan photographers.
Now a regular stop for many high-profile visitors to Marrakech, the venue also caught the attention of the American host. A few days ago, Jajjah Tea’s Instagram account shared a photograph of O’Brien, taken by the renowned photographer and showing him proudly posing at the entrance of the venue, accompanied by a message of appreciation to its community:
“We are grateful to every person who comes to share a tea, see an exhibition, enjoy a meal or simply spend time in our space. Whether you visit once or every week, thank you for your support and love. We are happy to be here for our community of locals, visitors from around the world, friends, colleagues and even a few occasional celebrities. Some of you may be better known, but to us, you are all rock stars.”
The colorful keepsake marked the end of O’Brien’s Moroccan journey, the final stop in the filming of the show, which had previously taken the team to the Philippines and the Netherlands. As a farewell, the host shared on social media a photo of himself riding a camel alongside his longtime assistant, Sona Movsesian, with whom he co-hosts the podcast Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend, accompanied by the caption:
“Sona and I are taking Ubers back to the airport. Farewell, Morocco!”
According to José Arroyo, one of the show’s writers, Morocco was chosen as a filming location after several Moroccan listeners of the podcast Conan O’Brien Needs a Fan invited O’Brien to visit the country, recommending places such as Jemaa el-Fnaa square and even encouraging him to experience a traditional hammam.
