Constitutional Union to offer critical support to Morocco’s next government

Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri meets a Constitutional Union delegation led by Secretary-General Mohamed.

The Constitutional Union (UC) has decided to offer “critical support” to Morocco’s next government, citing similarities between its electoral platform and that of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM). The party says it will maintain its independence in political decision-making.

The decision was announced in a statement following a meeting of the UC’s political bureau in Rabat on Friday, October 9, attended by the party’s members of parliament.

During the meeting, the party reviewed the guidelines set out in the royal speech delivered the same day at the opening of the first session of the first legislative year of the 12th Parliament.

The UC stressed the importance of continuing development and reform projects while balancing economic growth with stronger social and territorial justice.

It also highlighted the royal guidelines on pursuing major strategic projects, strengthening the private sector’s role in investment and job creation, and addressing young people’s concerns.

The party also called for accelerating advanced regionalization and administrative deconcentration, alongside improving the quality of public services and their ability to respond to citizens’ everyday needs.

Explaining its position on the next government, the UC’s political bureau explicitly cited “the similarities between the electoral programs of the Constitutional Union Party and the Authenticity and Modernity Party,” according to the statement.

The party added that its approach would be implemented while preserving its independence in political decision-making.
