The autumn session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), the fourth and final ordinary session of 2026, opened Monday, September 28, at the Palace of Europe in Strasbourg, with Morocco taking part.

Discussions are focusing in particular on growing threats to pluralism and media independence, the implementation of judgments by the European Court of Human Rights, and the role of diaspora communities and migrants in strengthening social cohesion and democratic participation.

The agenda also includes joint debates on a coherent European policy for veterans and the role of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in assessing the impact of artificial intelligence on the future of work.

A policy debate will also address the theme “Europe, the fastest-warming continent: accelerating climate action with youth participation.”

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe holds four ordinary plenary sessions each year, bringing together parliamentarians from the Council of Europe’s 46 member states, as well as representatives of observer countries and other partners.

Morocco participates in PACE sessions as a Partner for Democracy with the Council of Europe, a status it has held since 2011.
