The position was expressed during a meeting between Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, and his Armenian counterpart, Ararat Mirzoyan, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
During the meeting, Mirzoyan referred to a letter addressed to King Mohammed VI by President of the Council of Ministers Nikol Pashinyan, in which he stressed “the particular importance” of the Moroccan initiative concerning the Sahara, describing it as a “realistic political solution.”
In the letter, Pashinyan said that UN Security Council Resolution 2797 represents a major turning point in the process of resolving the issue, “opening the way to strengthening the territorial unity of the Kingdom of Morocco, for the benefit of peaceful coexistence and the prosperity of the peoples of the region.”
The two ministers also explored new avenues for bilateral cooperation and agreed on concrete measures to advance them in the near future. They also discussed regional and international issues.
