Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri’s appointment as Head of Government has entered the official record, with the royal dahir formalizing her nomination published in the latest issue of the Official Gazette.

King Mohammed VI appointed El Mansouri at the Royal Palace in Rabat on Sept 29 and tasked her with forming the new government under Article 47 of the Constitution.

The publication comes as the PAM collective leadership coordinator works through consultations with political parties over the composition of the next government.

Those talks began on Wednesday, with El Mansouri receiving RNI, Istiqlal, the Popular Movement, USFP and PPS, followed by the Constitutional Union and MDS on Thursday.

Two planned meetings with opposition parties have since fallen through over the choice of PAM headquarters as the venue. PJD chief Abdelilah Benkirane refused to attend Thursday’s appointment there, while the Left Alliance cancelled its Friday meeting after saying talks between a designated Head of Government and party leaders should take place at an independent venue.

The dahir therefore formally enshrines the appointment.
