Fouzi Lekjaa will head home to Berkane on September 3 to formally launch his first bid for Parliament, marking his first political rally in the city since joining PAM in July.
The budget minister is expected to announce his candidacy for the September 23 legislative elections at a rally attended by members of PAM’s collective leadership and party supporters, Le360 has learned from a reliable source.
The Berkane appearance will also be Lekjaa’s first campaign outing under PAM colors in his hometown.

Lekjaa joined the party in July before taking a seat on its political bureau, turning one of the country’s most prominent technocratic figures into a party politician weeks before the legislative elections.
His move to PAM has since become one of the flashpoints in the party’s deteriorating relationship with the RNI.
The two remain partners in the outgoing government majority but have traded increasingly sharp attacks in recent days, with candidate recruitment and defections emerging as a major source of friction ahead of September 23.
Lekjaa himself has moved to the center of that confrontation following the leak of an audio recording attributed to Rachid Talbi Alami in which the senior RNI figure discusses his political future and rules out his taking over the Economy and Finance Ministry if the RNI retains the head of government.
PAM has since called a meeting of its political bureau over the leaked remarks, while Lekjaa used a party gathering in Fkih Ben Saleh on Thursday to deliver an apparent response, rejecting what he described as the politics of dividing up “spoils” before the election.
His September 3 rally will now take that political debut to Berkane, where he is expected to formally enter the race for a parliamentary seat.
