The Social Democratic Movement (MDS) and the Constitutional Union (UC) have decided to adopt a common position, whether they join the future government or choose to remain in opposition, according to information obtained Sunday afternoon from the two political parties.
During an emergency bilateral meeting attended by the leaders of the Constitutional Union and the Social Democratic Movement, the two parties decided not to adopt a position of “critical opposition” during the next political phase.
A source close to both party leaderships said the MDS and UC will adopt a unified position, meaning they will either both join the future government or remain together in opposition.
Following the September 23 elections, the two parties also decided to form a unified parliamentary group. Designated Head of Government Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri is expected to resume consultations with political parties this week to build the next parliamentary majority.
The UC won 17 seats in the future House of Representatives, while the MDS will have eight lawmakers.
