Zahla Street, a key thoroughfare alongside the Rabat-Ville railway station, has reopened to traffic after several years of closure linked to the redevelopment of the capital’s main rail hub.
Le360 observed vehicles using the street on Tuesday, marking the return of traffic to one of central Rabat’s busiest corridors.
The street, commonly known as “Zahla” after the Lebanese city, is home to a hotel and the regional offices of a national daily newspaper.
It begins near the Moroccan Parliament and the southern entrance to Rabat-Ville Station before running alongside the historic city walls on Boulevard Ibn Toumert and ending at Bab El Had square.
Its reopening restores an important road connection for motorists and public transport users after years of disruption caused by the large-scale transformation of the Rabat-Ville station and its surrounding area.
