The General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) has issued an orange-level weather alert warning of a heatwave and persistently hot conditions across several provinces from Sunday through Tuesday.
The most intense heat is expected in the provinces of Zagora, Tata and Assa-Zag, where temperatures are forecast to range between 44°C and 47°C throughout the three-day period.
On Monday, temperatures of 42°C to 44°C are expected in the provinces of Settat, Kelaa Sraghna, Béni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Meknès, Khénifra, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane and Khouribga.
The same temperature range is forecast from Monday through Tuesday in Khémisset, Fès, Moulay Yacoub, Taounate, Ouezzane and Sefrou.
Meanwhile, Kénitra and Larache are expected to experience temperatures between 39°C and 42°C on Monday, the DGM said.
