According to the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM), the most intense heat is expected from Wednesday through Friday in the southern provinces of Oued Ed-Dahab, Boujdour, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, Taroudant, Tata, Zagora, Errachidia and Aousserd, where daytime temperatures are forecast to range between 45°C and 47°C.
Another heatwave is expected to affect the provinces of Fquih Ben Salah, Kelaa des Sraghna and Beni Mellal from Wednesday through Saturday, with temperatures reaching 42°C to 45°C.
From Thursday to Saturday, similar temperatures are forecast in Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Marrakech, Rehamna, Youssoufia, Khénifra, Taounate, Ouezzane, Meknes, Fès, Moulay Yacoub, Sidi Kacem, Khouribga, Settat and Chichaoua.
The DGM also warned of very hot conditions in the southern Atlantic provinces of Laâyoune, Tarfaya, Guelmim and Tan-Tan on Thursday and Friday, with temperatures expected to range from 42°C to 45°C. Coastal provinces including Essaouira and Sidi Ifni are forecast to record slightly lower highs of 39°C to 42°C over the same period.
Meanwhile, temperatures between 40°C and 45°C are expected on Friday and Saturday in Sidi Slimane, Benslimane, Khémisset, Safi, Sidi Bennour, Guercif and Taza.
