Morocco’s National Agency for Water and Forests (ANEF) has issued a new Forest Fire Risk Bulletin (BRIF), a tool designed to help anticipate wildfire risks across the country. Using scientific forecasting models, the agency produces maps that identify high-risk areas throughout the national territory.
The latest bulletin covers the period from Aug. 1 to 3, 2026. It is based on the analysis of multiple data sources, including forest types and their levels of combustibility and flammability, as well as the topographical and climatic characteristics of each region.
An extreme fire risk has been identified in the provinces of Al Hoceima, Chefchaouen, Fahs-Anjra, Larache, Tangier-Assilah, Tetouan, M’Diq-Fnideq, Nador, and Taza.
A high fire risk has been identified in the provinces of Ouezzane, Berkane, Driouch, Ifrane, Sefrou, Taounate, Kenitra, Khemisset, Benslimane, Mediouna, Mohammedia, Nouaceur, Essaouira, and Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane.

A medium fire risk has been identified in the provinces of Jerada, Oujda-Angad, Taourirt, Guercif, Meknes, El Hajeb, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Rabat, Salé, Skhirate-Témara, Azilal, Béni Mellal, Khénifra, Settat, Al Haouz, and Taroudant.
The authorities are urging residents, summer vacationers, visitors, and anyone working in or near forested areas to exercise the utmost caution and take all necessary precautions to prevent wildfires.
Anyone who notices smoke or suspicious activity is urged to immediately notify the competent local authorities.
