Authorities in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region have intensified efforts to reclaim public spaces, calling on the operators of cafés, restaurants and other businesses to comply with current regulations and remove installations occupying public areas without authorization.
The campaign has now reached Agdal, where municipal teams used heavy machinery to dismantle unauthorized advertising signs and remove furniture and other equipment illegally encroaching on public space.
According to local sources, the operation is primarily targeting cafés, shops and businesses that lack permits allowing them to temporarily occupy public areas, particularly sidewalks. These unauthorized occupations often force pedestrians onto the roadway, exposing them to potential danger.
The businesses concerned have been urged to regularize their situation by complying with regulations governing the temporary use of public space and obtaining the necessary permits.
Speaking to Le360, a local resident welcomed the initiative, saying it would help uphold the law and improve the capital’s urban environment. “People need to comply with the law and pay the required fees,” he said.
